How to talk to your child about strangers online
Rules help, but children stay safer when they feel able to tell an adult what happened without fear of punishment.
Start with curiosity
Ask your child to show you their favorite game and who they play with. Listen first.
Agree on three rules
Do not share your real name, school, address or phone number. Do not move a conversation to another app. Tell a trusted adult if anyone makes you uncomfortable.
If something goes wrong
Stay calm and thank your child for telling you. Take screenshots, use the in-game report tools and block the user. If you believe a child is in danger, contact local emergency services or the authorities in your country.
